Application of Chopped Basalt Fiber in Construction

Chopped basalt fiber is an inorganic mineral fiber with a length of less than 50mm that is chopped from the corresponding basalt fiber base material and can be uniformly dispersed in the concrete. According to its use, it can be divided into concrete crack-resistant fiber (BF), toughening reinforcing fiber (BZ) and mortar crack-resistant fiber (BSF).

Chopped basalt fiber concrete is mainly to add continuous or discontinuous chopped basalt fibers to concrete in an appropriate amount, and in an appropriate way, to improve the toughness and tensile strength of concrete, while retaining the original compressive strength of the concrete structure. strength, so as to strengthen the concrete and prolong the service life of the project

The appearance of chopped basalt fiber fills a gap in terms of materials and methods, and plays a great role in promoting the reinforcement and reinforcement of concrete. Its role in concrete reinforcement and reinforcement is reflected in the following aspects:

(1) Chopped basalt strands can make full use of their surface area and quantity advantages, so as to constrain micro-cracks to make them disconnected, and the results are remarkable. At the same time, it overcomes the shortcomings of other synthetic fibers such as low density, low tensile strength and elastic modulus, such as being easily pulled off when cracks expand, which can effectively prevent the expansion of existing micro-cracks and the appearance of new cracks. Melting, impermeability played a certain effect.

(2) In addition to being the same as steel fiber, chopped basalt fiber can take advantage of its high modulus and single high tensile strength to avoid the expansion of cracks, and it can also prevent steel fibers from being easily knotted during stirring, which is not conducive to the pump. delivery, the construction process is complicated.

(3) Chopped basalt fiber is a typical nitrocellulose, which has natural compatibility, and because it is similar in density to cement concrete and mortar, the density is between 2.63-2.8g/m³; good workability , the chopped basalt fibers can be evenly distributed after being incorporated into the concrete structure.

(4) The surface of chopped basalt fiber has been modified, and it is a kind of “inert fiber”, which has excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and impact resistance. It can maintain stability in high temperature and high corrosive environment, and can improve the deformation resistance of cement matrix. Therefore, the chopped basalt fiber can adapt to the harsh environment in all stages of concrete mixing, pouring, coagulation and use, and improve the durability of concrete.
